A Little History About Kleinpeter Farms Dairy
Kleinpeter Farms Dairy, L.L.C. has been a family-owned and independently operated dairy since 1913, providing fresh-tasting, quality Kleinpeter milk products to Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas for over ninety years. The Kleinpeters have been farming and processing milk longer than anyone in Louisiana, and are currently in their fourth generation of ownership.
We are committed to the highest standards of dairy processing for our product line of Kleinpeter milk and Kleinpeter milk products, and the kindest treatment of the cows which make up our herd. We’re proud to be the first dairy farm in Louisiana to have been independently certified as being Free Farmed by the American Humane Association.
Our 1500 acre farm in Montpelier, Louisiana is a 2007 recipient of the Louisiana Wildlife Federation Conservation Award, which was given for developing a model of cooperation between the business of agriculture and conservation of the environment. Our farm not only provides environmentally sensitive housing for the herd of over 600 cows, but also produces much of the forage that feeds the cows.
The Kleinpeter herd consists of Holsteins, Guernseys, and Jersey cows, creating the distinctive taste that Kleinpeter milk is known for.
